Tanzania

Our next trip was also kind of impromptu. We decided to meet Tyler's brother and his family at Tyler's cousin's house in Tanzania. If you know me, you know dirt and creepy crawly animals are not my cup of tea, but they are right in Tyler's wheelhouse :) Needless to say, I wasn't super excited about this trip, but it ended up being okay. Tyler's cousin and his wife were very accommodating and it was fun to get to know them better.

We had a great time hanging with the family and playing games and jumping on a trampoline. Tyler rode motorcycles and hunted for snakes. We all hiked to a waterfall and found lots of cute chameleons hiding in the bushes. We spent one afternoon at a lagoon in the middle of the desert.

Almost all of us drove to a national park a few hours away to see some big game animals. We drove around the park all day and found lots of zebras and lions and monkeys and giraffe and elephants.

Tyler's brother and his wife, and Tyler and I took one night away at a safari lodge. In the evening after the rest of the group left to go back to the house, we got to enjoy a nice dinner and watched the sun set to the sounds of African wildlife. We had to be escorted back to our tent by an armed guard just in case we encountered a dangerous animal. :)

In the morning, we woke up before sunrise and headed back out to the park to try to find more animals. We spotted a leopard and warthogs and lions, along with everything else we'd seen the day before.

After our early morning safari, we headed back to the lodge for breakfast and then packed up and made one last round of animal viewing before heading back to the house. I really enjoyed the safari and would definitely do it again!
